An official organ of the Milton Society of America and of the Milton Section of the Modern Language Association, Seventeenth-Century News covers all aspects of seventeenth-century culture, English, American, and European, with emphasis on literature and history. We provide reviews that keep both specialists and non-specialists abreast of new books on such writers as Donne, Milton, Corneille, Dryden, Wroth, Bacon, Browne, Behn, Grimmelshausen, and Cavendish; on recent historical work; on the scientific revolution; and on all other aspects of seventeenth-century life and thought. SCN is published electronically two times a year by the Department of English, Texas A&M University at http://journals.tdl.org/scn.
SCN no longer publishes notes or articles.
If at great things thou would'st arrive, Get riches first, get wealth, and treasure heap, Not difficult, if thou hearken to me; Riches are mine, fortune is in my hand, They whom I favor thrive in wealth amain, While virtue, valor, wisdom, sit in want
—John Milton
